sighhh... for the series of unfortunate events that happen during past 3 weeks:
1) Moving house - we finally got the place in early April & got our old & new furniture moved/delivered.
2) Got rid of the maid who was lazy, no respect for mom-in-law and worst - not thorough in washing clothes and eating utensils which leads to all of us down with GASTRIC/STOMACH INDIGESTION which we HIGHLY SUSPECT causing Jasper to VOMIT and hence his STAY (& MINE) at KKH.
3) All of a sudden, Jasper started to vomit one Friday afternoon, which make us start tp speculate about the cause of it - we were afraid of head injury as he knocked the back of his head earlier that day. We then decided to monitor him further and his 2nd bout of vomiting came STRAIGHT after he half-finish his usual bottle of milk before naptime... THIS GOT US DAMN WORRIED and mommy and I hurrily brought him to KKH for a check-up.
At KKH A&E, while waiting, we decided to feed him a LITTLE BIT OF WATER; he drank 1 or 2 mouthful and within SECONDS vomited AGAIN. (Btw, the way he vomits is wat we termed as MERLION, where the fluids just POURs out like the Singapore Merlion fountain.)
So the doctor we saw also worried that it could be due to his head injury and ordered him to be warded for a day for observation. And hence Jasper & I spend the whole of Friday & Saturday morning at KKH. I stayed overnight with him at the ward, B2 type cos all expenses can be covered for under medisave funds, B1 with aircon rooms will require $500 CASH DEPOSIT for a one night stay. Piangzzz, Ritz Carlton also not so expensive for a one-night stay! Nearly fainted.
Anyway, he did not vomit anymore after that 3rd vomit just before seeing the doctor and was feeding well so he got discharged on Saturday morning. The 2 day 1 night stay was quite an adventure for him but not so good for me cos there is 5 other beds with 5 other patients and either their dad/mom/grandparent/sibling staying with them in the non-aircon 6-bedded B2 ward BUT THERE ARE 2 BLOODY LOUD SNORER!!! I could hardly sleep but Jasper has no problem sleeping through from around 10 pm to 5 pm.
I think his stay there was not all so Dramatic except that he HATES the blood pressure measuring device where they wrap a nylon bandage like device around your arm/leg and it will then auto squeeze/tighten and then slowly releasing pressure to measure your BP. And they need to measure his BP every 3 or 4 hours and he will shake his head vigorously whenever he sees the Misses preparing the device and cry when the bandage starts to tighten up. End up I have to carry him and grab him tight to prevent him from running away or yanking at the bandage so that his BP can be taken.
Apart from that BP Measuring Phobia, he quite like his little Adventure there where he was amazed by the
1) Auto Swing Open/Close doors
2) AGP/APG/AVU watever-u-called-it which transports meals to the wards AUTO-PILOT mode. He was fascinated by the auto moving silver container near every mealtime.
Jasper was not the only one to suffer from the gastric/stomach indigestion, myself, veron and her mom subsequently suffered badly as well. So we came to the conclusion that the maid did not clean our eating utensils PROPERLY and hence all of us down with indigestion/no appetite. This brought forward her summary dismissal with IMMEDIATE EFFECT.
3-10) And then, one by one, starting from Mommy, me, Jasper, Chloe & Mom-in-law got hit by the cough & running nose sickness. And my mom and dad as well. We all recovered within a week but poor Chloe suffered the most cause her feeding and sleeping pattern was badly disrupted by the coughing and hence she cried alot when she is in distress. Very difficult to feed her medicine as well. But she seems to be getting a bit better after few days of force-feeding-and-followed-by-rigourously-coughing-due-to-choke-by-medicine and nose drops to clear her nostrils.
Ok now for Jasper & Chloe's latest development:
Jasper - 22 months old as of April 05
He has learned a lot in child care centre although it was a bit tough on him to adapt to a new lifestyle at the start. His lexicon has not increased tremendously thru childcare learning but he has learned to use signs to indicate his needs & wants.
His lexicon now consist of
1) Car (taught by me enforced by mommy)
2) Habis (malay word for finished)
3)Xie xie
4) Bye bye (only to his schoolmate - overheard by Mommy)
5) Daddy (was told by mommy and mom-in-law, as I have not heard him call me daddy in front of me)
His sign language now consist of
1) wave bye-bye.
2) blow flying kiss.
3) putting his forefinger to his mouth to indicate he wants milk/food.
4) showing his forefinger pointing up to request for 1 more of food, drink etc.
5) imitate steering the car steering wheels up and down to show that I am going to drive the car.
6) brush his teeth.
7) comb his hair.
8) pulling 2 hands away from each other forcefully to indicate to us to help him open something.
9) put his hand on his cheek and tilt his head so slightly to one side to indicate sleeping.
10) the-old-and-childish-way-of-saying-you-are-sorry-saluting-action.
11) frying action to indicate cooking of dishes/soup.
12) sweeping the whole hand in front of the nose to indicate smelly poo either his or our dog - Hugo's.
13) pointing/holding his draper to tell us he has just pee.
His other talent currently:
1) recognizes where we stay - every time we were about to turn into our estate or passes by it to get something else before we head home, he will point at the estate and look at mommy or me...
2) recognizes OUR CAR - either in a pool of cars parked or from far, he can tell that its OUR CAR. Recently tested his ability to identify our car correctly when i spotted a same model and color car as ours and then purposely bring him near it and ask him: "Where's daddy's car? Is this daddy's car?" He would look hard at it but show no sign of excitement that he displays whenever he spotted our car. Then I slowly bring him to our car and once near it, I dun even need to start to ask him, he will break into a broad wide smile and point our car out to mommy and me...
3) Press Tray Open/Close button of DVD player to eject the tray, Put disk onto tray (always out of alignment, I have to quickly place it properly before he), Pushes the tray close/Press Open/Close button to close the tray... Taught by mommy once and he knows it by hard.
Chloe's latest development - 3 months and 3 weeks old
1) Recognizes our faces.
2) GIVE US A BIG WIDE HAPPY SMILE whenever we played with her.
3) Grabs toys/things when we place them near her hands.
4) Turn to see when she hears our voices/sound from tv.
5) Can hold her head up fairly strong.
Aiyo... Babies and toddlers developments and learning new tricks are really TOO FAST TOO FURIOUS so I think I really need/must/try to update this blog as often as I can, if not, I will lose all these memorable funny/happy/sad moments bits by bits as times fly by.
